Kagami! In cute doll form! Need I say more? :D
Well, I’ll say a bit more than that ^^; This is Hiiragi Kagami as released by the Mama Chapp Toy company in Fall 2008. When I first read about the Lucky Star dolls, I was very interested but did not follow up due to the difficulty in obtaining them. Kagami was an limited, exclusive release by MamaChapp and was only available for order through their site. So, I abandoned the idea of owning this lovely Kagami for nearly a year. Some recently acquired goodies ^^. I’ve got a long list of figures that I have not yet had a chance to post about but have been quite busy recently (more on that soon). First up is the adorable and unique Kagabu plushie from Lucky Star. Kagabu is not an official character from the series. From some Google’ing, I found that there is a doujinshi comic in which Kagami is a pig/girl thing and this is what it’s based on. I haven’t read the manga so I don’t actually know what it’s about ^^; However, that didn’t stop me from wanting my own Kagabu :D
I’ve got a few new figures to cover but decided to pick my favorite character to start off with: Hiiragi Kagami from the series Lucky Star. This latest rendering of Kagami is by Atelier Sai, a company with which I did not have any prior experience.
So how does Atelier Sai’s non-scale Kagami scale up to the competition? Read on to find out ^^.
Lucky Star and FREEing strike back with the recent release of Hiiragi Kagami in 1/4 scale. This is a follow-up to last month’s “Super” Konata, a figure of epic proportions (literally). Luckily, “Super” Kagami does not disappoint ^^. Continue reading 'FREEing 1/4 “Super” Kagami'»
Returned home today to find a rather large package from Hobby Search waiting for me. It was packed full of delicious bishoujos :D
Three new Lucky Star girls and a Kyou challenger appears! Since I’m quite cheap and shipping EMS is quite expensive, I try to package as many items into a single order as possible. Hobby Search is great for this as they will hold your items up to a month and then ship them all together. Results in a slight delay for some items that are released early in the month but saves a lot of money on shipping ^^
I’m looking forward to playing with my new toys over the long Labor Day weekend :-D

On a unrelated note, I have been keeping myself busy with a few new games (new to me, at least). Picked up LittleBigPlanet (PS3), God of War 2 (PS2), and borrowed Persona 4 (PS2) from a friend. Too many games, too little time xD The PS2 games play quite nicely on my PS3 thanks to the backwards compatible hardware in the 60GB model.
And lastly, I’m almost done with final part of my Italy trip coverage. Should have done that a while ago ^^;
Hey, look at this ^^ At the ongoing Chara Hobby 2009 event, FREEing displayed new, alternative outfits for their 1/4 scale Lucky Star figures. Konata was released last month and Kagami will be out in a few days. By default, all the figures come with gym uniforms but it looks like we’ll have the option to pick up cheerleader, miko, and winter serafuku outfits as well!
So awesome! It now makes perfect sense why they designed the figures to be (mostly safe) cast-offable ^^ Buy the figure once and you’ll have the ability to dress it in multiple sets of clothing :) It seems the cheerleader outfit will be the first one released. Now we just need some details on pricing and release dates.
Will probably be more interesting goodies shown at Chara Hobby later ^^

My latest acquisition in the quest for Lucky Star world domination ^^. Here we have Wave’s non-scale Konata and Kanata, Treasures of Soujirou Set. Soujirou, for those who aren’t aware, is Konata’s otaku galge/H game/anime loving dad. The Treasures of Soujirou set is both Konata and Kanata together (normally sold separately) and some bonus accessories. Continue reading 'Lucky Star Treasures Set of Soujirou'»
