FREEing 1/4 Miyuki Takara Pre-ordering Starts

2009Jul16202814_2556

Looks like I got back just in time ^^.  The last of the four Lucky Star girls in FREEing’s 1/4 scale set went up for pre-ordering yesterday.  This time it’s Miyuki Takara, the moe-clumsy meganeko. I like her pose here, it definitely captures her moe-centric personality :)

You can place your pre-order at Hobby Search for a mere 11,581 yen ^^;  The figure itself will be released sometime in October.  For those who like Lucky Star, FREEing’s 1/4 Konata from this set was released a few days ago.  You can order her right now for a slightly less, but still hefty 10,677 yen price tag.

More info and pics of Miyuki at GSC’s site.

Home sweet home

I’m back in the States after a nice two and a half week vacation in Italy.  After about 12 hours of flying, 3 sitting in airports, and 2 more sitting in a plane on the tarmac, we touched down in Indianapolis around 10pm.  Finally got home after being awake for about 26 hours (yay, jet lag) and took a nice long nap ^^;  I wasn’t planning on blogging much about my trip but I think I took enough interesting pictures to make a few posts out of it ;)

But first I need to wade the massive backlog of email (both work and home) and all the other things that have piled up in my absence. I will be posting some pics in a day or so.  I just need to sort through them all :)

Ciao from Italy

img_0496Just a quick update on my trip to Italy.  We’re currently staying in Florence, relaxing in our hotel room after a long, hot day (35C, 95F!) roaming the city.  Our trip is about halfway through; we’ve been to a lot of awesome places and are going to see more in the next week ^^.

I’ve taken nearly 1,000 photos already >_<  The above pic is Kagami visiting Venice.  She decided to tag along on the trip for some reason ^^;  The Internet connection here is too slow to upload more and editing RAW images on a Mini 9 is not fun XD.  I will definitely need to post some of the better ones when I get back to the States :)

Going AFK for a while

Will be leaving for a trip to Italy in about 12 hours.  I’m going to be in Europe for 2 and a half weeks, mostly visiting family there but also getting in some good sightseeing!  Bringing my camera and nice lens as I expect to be taking lots of pictures ^^.  I don’t think I’ll have Internet access most of the time so it’s very unlikely I will be posting before I return.  Let’s see how long I can go without net access ^^;

So, until then, signing off!

Nagi-sama does Kannagi OP in Dance×Mixer

A friend in an IRC channel (thanks topz) posted a link to this awesome video of Nagi-sama singing the Kannagi opening song, Motto Hade ni ne!, and I just had to share it ^^.

Apparently, the video was made by a new software application called Dance Mixer that allows you to create a character, customize her appearance, and then program her to dance to your imported songs ^^.  There doesn’t appear to be a demo of the program available and it costs 15,980¥ so I haven’t had a chance to try it myself >_<

Touhou Reimu Nendoroid Preview

Hey look, pics of the upcoming Reimu Nendoroid ^^.  No word on price yet but apparently she is still going to be a C76 exclusive.  Ah well, considering the huge amount of Touhou doujinshi merchandise that is released exclusively at Comiket, I suppose it makes sense for a Nendoroid as well ;)

I believe Tokyohunter is going to be taking orders for her once the price is announced.  Alternatively, C76 starts on August 14th this year so if you want to get her yourself, start checking Yahoo Japan Auctions around that date ;)  Pic from Mika-tan’s blog.

So K-ON’s over…

2009-05-24-165818

Now what?  It was, by far, the most popular series of the season and now that it’s over, what did you think?  Personally, I thought it was a good series though not as epic as some fans anticipated.  It was arguably the most hyped anime series since The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi.  Maybe a bit too much hype?  Yeah, I’d probably say so but that doesn’t detract from the fact that every week I had fun watching the latest episode ;)

And despite the huge fanbase that formed around Mio, she didn’t end up being my favorite character.  For me, it was Yui with Azusa in a close second.  Mio was entertaining most of the time but I think her ‘scaredy-cat’ personality was overdone a bit.  Ritsu and Mugi-chan also were fun characters and we can’t forget about the super-cute imouto, Ui :3.  Honestly, that’s what made this show worthwhile; the characters were great.  The story itself was fairly mediocre but the characters and their interactions kept the pace, laughs, and fun going ^^

Moe moe kyun!

Moe moe kyun!

So, yeah, K-ON! wasn’t a miraculously awesome series or anything but it is was fun ^^.  Hmmm, now I need to think about the next show to watch…  Maybe I should catch up on Hayate or Eden of the East.
