A Day Out
Spent most of the day out and about and captured a few shots I thought I’d share. We decided to head out to Bloomington to visit some friends and the farmers’ market there.
Stopped by a local doughnut shop for some sugar energy before the hour and a half drive.
Atelier Sai Hiiragi Kagami
I’ve got a few new figures to cover but decided to pick my favorite character to start off with: Hiiragi Kagami from the series Lucky Star. This latest rendering of Kagami is by Atelier Sai, a company with which I did not have any prior experience.

Art Watch Week 2
Hey, it’s already week 2 for Art Watch ^^. This week, I had a ton of awesome images to sort through. I had a bit of trouble picking out this list as there were so many great illustrations >_< Anyway, this week we have some Takoyaki here, some Aoi Nanase there, but all of the images are simple excellent ^^. New Theme
Cool & Spicy has a new look ^^. I’ve chosen the Panorama theme as my new replacement. It has some new features like a wider post column which will be quite helpful with my frequent image-heavy posts. Now I can embed wider preview images like the one below :)

I’ve also put together a quick image banner for the new theme. Probably could be better. Will probably update that later ^^
New Feature – Art Watch Week 1
This week I’m introducing a new weekly feature for cool & spicy, focusing on one of my favorite parts of anime culture: anime art! I just so happen to administer an anime image board over at e-shuushuu.net so naturally I get to see a lot of cute/pretty/sexy/beautiful images ^^. I will be sharing my favorite illustrations each week gleaned primarily from shuushuu with perhaps a short comment or two on each image.
Since I know giveing credit is an important requirement for many artists, I will make every effort to properly identify each artist featured, including artist names and site links.
My intentions are twofold: I want to increase awareness of shuushuu (shameless ;)) plus I hope to spread some of the beautiful bishoujo love around and get more people interested in anime art. There’s a lot of awesome art out there that is just too good to not share :)
So, let’s start off with week 1!

My Comiket 76 loot arrived last week ^^. For the uninitiated, Comic Market (Comiket) is biyearly doujinshi event. The most recent event, C76, took place on August 14-16. Read on for more info and pretty pics.
Alter Odin Sphere Mercedes Up for Reserve
One of the figures I’ve been keeping my eye on is now up for pre-ordering at Hobby Search. It is the elegant fairy Mercedes from Odin Sphere. Alter’s first Odin Sphere figure, Gwendolyn, was absolutely stunning and I expect Mercedes to be as well. The preview images look great.
I’m interested in how her wings will tun out as they seem to be translucent. Quite tempting though will not come cheap at 7,410 yen for a 1/8 scale figure. Then again, it is Alter ^^; Mercedes will be released in February.
