I’m getting ready for a 17 day trip to Italy in a couple of weeks. Since I plan on taking my Canon 40D and all my lenses, I wanted to have a safe and secure way to transport them. Did some research on camera bags and decided to get the Lowepro Mini Trekker AW.
The Mini Trekker is a backpack specifically designed to hold camera bodies and lenses. The interior is spacious and cames with Lowepro’s velcro separator system which allows you to adjust the compartments’ size to fit your specific gear.
Here I have my 40D, 17-55mm, 100mm macro, and 50mm lens packed into their own compartments. As you can see, there is still quite a bit of room for any new gear I may acquire (which is a definite possibility ^^).
Although it doesn’t have a section dedicated for notebooks, I found that my Mini 9 fits quite nicely into one of the sleeves on the back flap. There are also smaller pockets for memory cards, cords, etc.
I was a bit worried about getting a camera bag that would be too uncomfortable to take while traveling (the reason I got a smaller backpack), but I’m happy to say that the Mini Trekker is pretty easy to wear. The shoulder straps are padded and so is the rest of the bag so I don’t feel the bulky items like my camera body poking through. It also has a waterproof cover you can take use in case of bad weather.
Pretty happy with the purchase but will know for sure how it works out when I take it to Europe. The Mini Trekker retails for $180 but I bought it new on Ebay for $65 (thanks, China).
China to the rescue when it comes to bagging something at a good price. lol

Got the Canon Deluxe Gadget Bag 10EG myself, for the simple reason it was on special overstock sale when I went to the photography store and couldn’t pass up on getting it for 30$ instead of 80$. ^^
Good shoulder bag to transport everything, also has that velcro compartment system. Though I don’t think it’ll come in handy when I got on a trip. Will have to experience it first-hand I guess. If it’s not that great for voyages I’ll just switch.

@Optic: Yep, I’ll buy my stuff on Ebay if it’s cheaper and I can confirm it’s not a cheap counterfeit ^^.

Looks nice and sturdy, for sure. Though doesn’t look like it would hold my 100mm and 17-55mm at the same time. Not to mention if I get another lens (very likely).
hmmm i was recently wondering what sort of bag to get for my camera. not just for traveling but just to keep things protected from the dust in my room ^^;
will definitely put this one in my list of considerations. i must say that’s one helluvan msrp on that thing though (nice deal ya got :P). must all photo equipment cost so much? orz

Yeah, I will be using the bag for that purpose as well. Up until now, I’ve just been leaving my lens around… on my desk, the table, where ever ^^; This will help me keep them in one safe place.
