Yui’s Day Out

A few weeks back, I was able to spend a nice (and hot) Saturday afternoon strolling through downtown Indianapolis. Yui decided to come along for the round as well ^^;

Started out the journey with a nice little sunflower field oasis in a desert of heat-radiating streets and parking lots.

The Canal is a popular place to spend leisure time downtown. Decided to walk around the area ^^

That… actually looks pretty fun xD

The IUPUI campus is right nearby so lots of students out and about.

Moving on, we came to the state capitol building. The sky is so blue it looks fake, but it’s not, I promise ^^;

Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument in the center of the city. The area is generally known as ‘The Circle’.

I worked in this building for a short time. Had a nice view of the city from the top floor :)

Hehehe ^^ There was no one kissing here though! I felt very disappointed :-/

Was getting to hot to walk, so we decided to explore a bit more by car. Found this decrepit, graffiti-stained building near the railroad tracks.

Gotta say, old rusty metal and graffiti-ed walls make a good photo setting xD

Last pic! Yui wanted to look down the railroad tracks. Had to snap this one quickly since I didn’t want to be seen (not supposed to play around on the tracks, plus this was a rather seedy part of town ^^;). Although hastily taken, I like the way it turned out :)

K-ON! Mugi-chan by Azone

The never-ending stream of cute Azone dolls continues, this time with Kotobuki Tsumugi, or Mugi-chan as she is more commonly known, from the popular series K-ON!. And, of course, I have acquired this cute new Azone doll and am able to present to you the following review. Let’s start with some pictures ^^

You can rest assured that Azone did an excellent job recreating Mugi’s wavy golden locks. Not only that, but her cute, “daikon” eyebrows are present as well ^^;

Continuing the trend of including the girls musical instruments (except for Ritsu), Mugi comes with her electronic keyboard which is supported by its own collapsible stand for easy storage.

She looks incredibly cute standing behind her keyboard. It’s a bit hard to capture in a photograph but I think this one does a decent job ^^

Mugi-chan does come with her summer vest (not pictured here) as it did with Yui and Mio. I decided to just leave her in her default school blazer. But what I want to know is when Azone is going to give us Mugi’s school live outfit? They’ve already created them for Yui, Mio, and Ritsu. I hope that Mugi’s outfit will also become available.

Mugi’s lovely golden blond hair ^^. Azone did a nice job with the curly waves that she is depicted with in the anime. Overall, Azone has done a great job converting beloved anime Mugi into doll Mugi. The hair, the eyebrows, and the innocent cuteness is all here. At first I wasn’t sure if I was going to like her, but now I’m glad I kept her on pre-order. She’s a really cute doll :D

The keyboard that is included with Mugi is intricately detailed with various knobs, sliders, buttons, and a display screen. Sadly, it does not produce real music xD

And now, a special treat! So far, I’ve collected 4 of the 5 keion girls and wanted to display them each in a special outfit. Here’s what I have so far!

Alice Mio, Little Devil Yui, Ritsu in Lace, and Mugi in a black, ribbon-ed one piece. What do you think? Which outfit do you like the most? Sadly, I did not have enough matching shoes to go around so Mio and Mugi had to wear their school loafers >_<

Shrine Maiden

Last month I placed an order at Dollfie World for their popular tripod mountable doll stand and while browsing their site, I spotted this lovely miko (shrine maiden) outfit. I had to see my Yui in it so I added it to the order ^^

You can see the stand in this shot. Sorry, that’s the only photo where it’s visible ^^; It’s a good, sturdy stand though! It’s mounted to my tripod in this picture.

DD Yui with her Leeke World wig (that looks like Mugi) and her new shrine maiden outfit. The miko set is an official Volks item and is of high quality design like you would expect from Volks. The red hakama is particularly lovely with neat pleats and is made of a soft, smooth martial.

The white kimono top was a bit wrinkled when I took it out of the packaging so I tried to iron it a bit. First time I’ve done that with Dollfie clothes ^^; I think it helped a bit but there are still some wrinkles. The hakama, on the other hand, was perfectly smooth out of the package. I think that was due to the different types of materials.

Kagami Goes Out 2

Phew, these photos are late ^^; I was going through some of my older photo collections and realized I still had some decent Mamachapp Kagami pics to post. These are from last Fall.

Ah, Fall. One of my favorite times of the year in Indiana. The weather turns crisp and cool and the leaves trade green for shades of red and gold. Kagami insisted on going outside to play in the leaves ^^;

Kagami is also wearing her new outfit (well, it was new back in Fall ^^;). Can you tell what it is? ;)

Better look at Kagami’s outfit. It’s bloomers ^^. Did you guess it correctly?

“This is my pumpkin. Don’t even think about trying to touch it!”

Anime Central 2010 + BJD Meetup

Spent the past weekend in Chicago attending Anime Central 2010 and catching up with some college friends. It was a lot of fun. I took my camera and most of my lenses and managed to snap a few hundred photos of lots of cute cosplayers among other things ^^; Also brought my Yui Dollfie Dream and met up with Wolfenreich who brought his Asuka DD.

Anyway, here are a few of the photos:

Might as well start with the best cosplay first. Seeing as how my avatar is usually Amu and this blog is even named after her, it seems fitting to start with a great Amu cosplay! Unfortunately, I was too distracted by her cute cosplay to notice my camera settings were off and the photo was blown-out >_< Managed to recover most of it.

Took this cosplay pic right as I walked in, before picking up my badge. Good cosplayers this year ^^

A most awesome Eizo cosplayer in the artist’s alley. He was selling stuff too. His wrist blades were fully retractable too. Very detailed!

Random cosplay? I don’t know the character, but she was cute ;)

I’m pretty sure this is Fuu from Samurai Champloo. I just thought she was kawaii ;)

Throughout the weekend of the con, a series of BJD (Ball Joint Doll) meets were scheduled by fans from Den of Angels. This is from the Friday afternoon meet which I attended and brought along my Yui DD. Also, Wolfheinrich from Wolfheinrich’s World brought his Asuka DD. He has already posted a lot of pics at his blog. Check them out.

It was a lot of fun to see all the different types of dolls.

Up until this meet, I had only see Dollfie Dream dolls so this was a new experience for me :)

Asuka and Yui have become fast new friends ^^

Ah, I wish I remember what type of doll this was. The owner sat next to me and explained that she made this outfit herself. Pretty cute ^^

Finished up the Friday BJD meet and headed back out to the general con for more pics and panels. I don’t know this character, but she is pretty cute, right? ;)

Wolf and I took our DDs out to the main lobby for a “group shoot” xD. A few people stopped to take a look at the cute girls :)

I visited the dealer’s room a few times and was tempted by many items. I tried, however, to spend less than $100 and actually managed to succeed. This Lucky Star wallscroll was one of the items for which I succumbed and purchased. Kagami x Konata :3

Also picked up some new manga for a few series I’ve been reading. Skip Beat vol. 10-18, Berserk 33, and Yotsuba 9.

Yui’s New Outfit + Headphones

A quick follow-up to the images I posted yesterday. Here is Yui in her new outfit as herself (original wig). Plus there is a new addition: Yui’s new headphones!Sadly, it has been raining for most of the past week. Yui is tired of being stuck indoors ^^;

Low-tops from Leeke World. These shoes are amazingly cool. I’m really impressed by their quality. And they just look good :)

Oh, and here are Yui’s new headphones. They say Sony on the side but since they come from a Chinese store… yeah, they’re not really Sony xD. However, they are real headphones. You can connect them to an audio jack and they’ll play music for your dollfie!

So, does the outfit look better on Yui as herself or with the “Mugi” wig? In other news, I promise I will be posting some non-Dollfie items soon. So, no, my blog has not been converted into a DD-only blog ^^;

Ah, it’s been awhile since I posted, hasn’t it? Some distractions have come up… Starcraft 2 beta, Assassin’s Creed 2, BFBC2, and replaying Deus Ex ^^;

Well, a few “presents for Yui” packages arrived and I just couldn’t resist posting about them! My girl Yui got to try on a new outfit from Iplehouse as well as a wig and pair of shoes from Leeke World.

The Iplehouse outfit has a sort of bad-girl look to it which I have a bit of a weakness against ^^; It was designed for Iplehouse’s YID Girl doll series, but fits pretty well for DD as you can see. The outfit comes in 3 pieces: The “What’s love got to do with it?” top, pleated print skirt, and lovely stripped socks.

The top is a bit loose on little Yui though. If she had an M or L bust, I think it would fit very nicely, but even with her default S bust, it looks pretty good. Quite fittingly, the top comes with a cute music note ornament for our clumsy little rock-star.

Too bad the outfit is primarily dark colors with black threading. I had to remove the outfit quickly after shooting these pics in order to avoid staining Yui. I wish I could leave it on her!

Along with the new outfit, Yui received a new wig. What do you think? Long, wavy blond hair is cute ^^. It wasn’t my intention but she kind of looks like Mugi-chan, doesn’t she?

A Closer Look at DD Yui

I’ve now had my Yui Dollfie Dream for 1 week and I can’t believe I’ve only posted a handful of preview images from the day I received her! Let’s fix that. Here are lots of pretty pictures of DD Yui ^^

Volks also provided a nice quality guitar case for Gita. It’s made out of some sort of imitation leather and has a nice feel to it.

I finally agreed to take Yui out since it was a nice, sunny day. But first we had to change into some more Spring-like clothes. Summer school uniform!

So sunny today! Yui insisted we stop and look at the newly blossomed tulips.

Ah, Spring-time is refreshing!

(These flowers were right outside of my apartment complex where many people pass by. Posing a doll in this high traffic area was a bit embarrassing xD)

We decided to head to somewhere quieter and more peaceful. Yui found some wild flowers that she took a liking to.

Ah, time for a break. This looks like a good spot to rest.

Here Yui is trying on a new outfit. This is my first non-Volks outfit.

It is a Dollmore outfit which I acquired from Ultimaknight who was selling it.

It also looks pretty cute from the side :)

Sadly, the outfit, particularly the top, is a bit big for Yui’s petite physique. Still, it looks pretty good.

These socks are part of Yui’s default school uniform, but I like them a lot. Very cute and are made of soft material.

This is a rather long post, isn’t it? >_< Don’t worry, we’re nearly finished! ^^

Yes, that’s right. A Dollfie. I have finally given in to the moe-pressure and purchased my first Dollfie Dream. And who else but Hirasawa Yui for my first girl? ^^

Wanted to share a few quick preview pics since she just arrived today. A full review will come later!

Yui came without clothes on ^^; And a nice ribbon for the new owner to release her.

Finally got her all dressed! Her hair was a bit of a challenge. Quite messy out of the box ^^; Will need to fix it up more later. But isn’t she cute? :3

K-ON! Ritsu and Mio by Azone

More K-ON! dolls! Following the unbelievably cute Hirasawa Yui, Azone has released the next two dolls in the K-ON! series, Ritsu and Mio! I and just so happened to acquire said new dolls ^^. Let’s have a look, shall we?

Feisty drummer girl Ritsu makes her appearance!

Azone pulled an evil move and made Ritsu a Wonder Festival exclusive item. Well, not exclusive to the event itself, but she was only sold online at Azonet and TBS ishop. Had to use a deputy service to order her and ended up costing quite a bit more than Yui. Not cool, Azone!

Well, aside from that nonsense, Ritsu is great! She comes with her school uniform like Yui but her’s is slightly different. Keeping with her slightly tomboyish style, Ritsu has her jacket open and shirt untucked. In fact, Azone didn’t even include buttons on her jacket so it’s always open xD And her skirt is really short ^^;

Sadly, no drums were included with Ritsu but they did give me some drumsticks ^^; She also came with an alternative outfit which you will see a bit further down.

Huge forehead! xD Nah, I’m just kidding. I love ya, Ritsu ;)

Really liked this photo, but I was so occupied with posing her that I didn’t notice that her hairband was falling off until I was editing the images. Doh! >_<

And Mio! She’s much cuter in person that the pre-production photos made her look. I like her a lot :3

Like Yui and Ritsu, Mio comes with her school uniform. However! We also get her bass guitar ^^

At the same time Azone released Ritsu, they also released some accessories for the K-ON! girls. One of the items had Yui’s guitar case.

Yes, it’s a real case. It has a zipper and you can place Gita in it. The photo above actually shows the bag while Yui’s guitar is inside :)

The other item in the bag set was Yui’s school bag.

Now on to the really good stuff :D Remember how I said Ritsu did not come with her drum set? A bit of a disappointment but understandable considering how large and detailed it would have to be. Instead, Azone gave us an full, extra outfit for Ritsu. Her school festival live outfit ^^.

While Ritsu’s live outfit was included in her package, Mio’s and Yui’s live outfits were separate accessories. I decided to buy them ^^. They’re fairly well made with a soft, polyester material. They have fuzzy linings and each comes with a removable sash.

My Azone K-ON! collection is now 3/5 complete. Only Mugi and Azusa remain. Unless they decide to release Ui or some of the other secondary characters ^^; I’m not entirely sure if I will be completing the rest of the set. As much as I like these dolls, I definitely like Yui the most and Mugi and Azusa probably won’t change that. Plus, they’re a bit expensive and I’ve been trying to save for other things. Well, I currently have Mugi on pre-order. I might just decide to keep it that way ^^; Hope you liked the piccies. Until next time!
